How we review Florida rehab centers

The Clinical-First Standard: what we check, where we check it, and what we will never do for money.

Our method, in plain words

Most luxury rehab websites look alike. The photos are lovely, the words are warm, and every center says it offers “evidence-based care”. That makes it hard to tell a strong clinical program from a nice house with a pool. So we start somewhere else: with public records you can check yourself.

For every center we mention, we look in four places. First, the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), which licenses addiction treatment in the state. Second, the directories kept by the two main accreditors, The Joint Commission and CARF. Third, the Florida Department of Health license lookup, for the doctors and nurses a center names. Fourth, the center’s own website, which we quote with the words “Describes itself as…” so you always know whose claim it is.

Only after those checks do we look at the setting: private rooms, food, the view, the quiet. Those things matter for comfort. They do not tell you whether your loved one will get good medical and psychiatric care. When we have not yet confirmed a license or an accreditation, we say so on the page and send you to the source.

We list centers in alphabetical order, never ranked. Being on a list means “worth researching”, not “recommended”.

The Clinical-First Standard

The six things we check first

  1. Florida DCF license
  2. Joint Commission or CARF accreditation
  3. Medical detox on site
  4. Psychiatrist on staff
  5. Dual-diagnosis care
  6. A real aftercare plan

Dual-diagnosis care means treating a substance use disorder and a mental health condition, such as depression or trauma, together. Aftercare is the plan for the weeks and months after a stay ends.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell rankings. No center can pay to move up a list, and we don’t publish “best” or “top 10” lists.
  • We don’t take fees per referral or per admission. Florida’s patient brokering law, s. 817.505, makes it a crime to pay or accept anything of value for referring a patient.
  • We don’t collect your details. There is no family contact form on this site. You call centers directly, on your own terms.
  • We don’t invent facts. No made-up ratings, reviews, prices or awards. If a center doesn’t publish something, we write “not published”.
  • We don’t give medical advice. We help you ask better questions. A licensed clinician should assess your loved one.

The site has a single paid placement. One Florida center at a time can hold it. That center pays a flat fee, which does not change with calls, clicks, referrals or admissions. The listing is labeled as paid everywhere it appears, near the top of the homepage and on each region and city page.

Paying does not buy a good review. The featured center still has to hold a current DCF license, and its listing can only say things we can check. It does not change the alphabetical lists or what we write about any other center. Right now the spot shows a clearly marked example, not a real center. Our disclosure page explains every way the site makes money, and centers can apply here.

Questions about our reviews

How do I choose a luxury rehab I can trust?

Check the clinical basics before the amenities. Confirm the DCF license and what it covers, look up the accreditation, and ask who the medical and psychiatric staff are. Then compare the setting, privacy and price. Our checklist walks through it.

Do centers pay to be listed on this site?

Only one: the featured center, which pays a flat fee and is always labeled as paid. Every other center named on the site is listed for free, in alphabetical order, and cannot pay to change what we say.

Have you visited the centers you list?

Our reviews are based on public records and each center’s own published claims, not on site visits. That is why we show you how to check each one yourself and what to ask when you tour.

What if a page gets something wrong?

Tell us and we will look at it. Our editorial policy explains how to send a correction and how we handle it.

Detox at home, at your hotel, or wherever you choose

Medically supervised detox and rehab where you are staying, run by licensed clinicians. Not right for everyone: severe alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal may need a hospital or residential setting.

Toll-free. You can call just to ask questions.
