What private treatment looks like here
Miami and Fort Lauderdale hold many treatment programs along a short stretch of coast. The ads show private rooms, chef-prepared meals and pools. Many of the ads you see are not from a center at all.
Some websites that show up for luxury rehab in Miami are run by call centers, or by centers in other regions. That is not always a problem, but you should know who answers the phone and where the program really is. On the first call, ask for the center’s legal name, its street address and its DCF license number.
A city setting has real upsides. Hospitals, specialists and outpatient programs are close by, which can make the step down after residential care easier to set up. If your loved one wants a quieter setting, the Palm Beach guide covers the coast to the north.
Florida’s rules on rehab marketing
Florida has two laws that protect families during a search. The first bans patient brokering: paying or receiving a kickback or fee to send a patient to a provider (s. 817.505). The second bans deceptive marketing by treatment providers and their marketers, including misleading ads and website links (s. 397.55).
Here is how to use them in practice:
- Ask the person on the phone who they work for. If it is not the center, ask how they are paid.
- If anyone offers something free, such as travel or a place to stay, in return for choosing a program, treat it as a warning sign.
- Check the license yourself on the DCF licensing page, rather than taking it from an ad.
- If a sober home is part of the plan, ask whether it is certified under Florida’s recovery residence program (s. 397.487).
This guide does not take referral fees. Our disclosure page explains the one paid spot on the site and how it is labeled.

Miami and Fort Lauderdale questions
How can I tell if a rehab website is really a call center?
Look for a street address, a legal business name and a license number on the site. Then ask on the phone who you are speaking with. A real center can tell you its DCF license number and where your loved one would stay. If the answers are vague, slow down.
Is detox separate from rehab in Miami?
Sometimes. Some programs offer only detox, the first stage, where withdrawal is managed medically, and then refer on. Others offer detox and residential care in one place. Ask what happens on the day detox ends and who makes that plan. Our medical detox guide explains the steps.
Do luxury rehabs in Miami take insurance?
Some say they work with private insurance, and some are private pay only. Insurance usually pays toward clinical care, not the extras. Ask for a written price and check your benefits with your insurer. See luxury rehabs that take insurance.
Is treatment at home realistic in a busy city?
It can be, for the right person, with licensed clinicians. Some families choose it so work or school can continue. Severe alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal can need a hospital, and in an emergency call 911. Read about concierge rehab at home first.
